Shima Seiki Mfg. Japan was originally founded in 1962 by Dr Shima who developed the world’s first fully automated glove knitting machine.

Since then, the company has launched several Flat Bed Knitting Machines, including specific machines for Intarsia, Inlay, and I-Plaiting and were the first knitting machine manufacturer to introduce WHOLEGARMENT® technology to the market.

While the main use of our range of machines has been focussed on the design, development and production of knitted items that are worn such as jumpers, cardigans, trousers, jackets, hats, gloves, scarfs etc.  the possibilities for using knitting techniques in other applications such as furniture, homewares, medical, sports and smart technical textiles are limitless.

It is possible to create 3D Weft Knitted items with zero waste that improve sustainability targets while offering customers cutting edge newness and bespoke applications.
